Productivity System: Wish, Will, Do and Start Doing

Wishes

As a special part of My Productivity Tools I want to talk about different productivity systems that exist.

One note is important that come from my own experience: you can’t find specially designed productivity system for you. You can find only the processes that you will need to rearrange if you want to be applicable to yourself.

Today I want to talk about the roots of each productivity system: wishes.

Do you have wishes? How many wishes you have?

I think that we can’t find a person without wishes. Wishes are our biggest driving force. But, only when we make something about them.

If we really want something we can get that something only if we implement some type of actions in order to get that something.

Everything starts with our wish list. If read something interesting we can identify ourselves and translate that into our wishes. Can we do that? Can we receive benefits from that? What we will benefit? How we can benefit?

There are many questions related to an information, and our wishes derived from that information.

Let’s look at the process of what I call wish, will, do and start doing.

#1 Your Wish List

You have many wishes. Some of them probably you have already forgotten. You will forget very soon some of them. Some of them will never be realized.

If you want all of your wishes to become reality, you need to start with your own list.

I wish list

How we can translate our wishes into reality?

Firstly, because we have more than one or several wishes, we need to prioritize them.

#2 The Priority of Our Wishes

Sometimes you can have a hundreds or thousands wishes on your list. They are not all with the same weight. You will have some wishes that will be more important, or with more weight for you than other.

Because of that you need to prioritize them on the list.

The Priority of Our Wishes

But, wish as such is not actionable. When we wish something, we are in the dreaming level. Dreams, only as dreams are not worth for us. Dreams will be worth only when we can make them happen. They are worth only when we can feel the real benefits from them.

Because of that, we need to make something, we need to translate them into the reality.

#3 I Will Do Level

The first step to make your most priority wishes in actionable items is to transform your wishes into a to – do list.

You are now at “I will do level” on your path to realize your wishes where you will plan your work on the first three most important wishes for you..

For example, if your wish is to organize your personal life to become more productive, you will have:

I will organize my personal life to improve productivity.

After you translate your wish in an actionable sentence you can continue to make a list with all things that you need to implement that action. For example, to organize my personal life to improve productivity, to-dos can be:

  • Analyzing my current life.
  • Find the most important things for me.
  • What are the biggest constraints to get organized?
  • Eliminate that constraints.
  • Make an organizational system.
  • Implement that system.
  • Improve the system daily.

#4 Let’s Start Doing Something

Now you can start with the implementation of the tasks on your to-do list. Start with the first, most priority wish, and when you finish, continue with the second one.

When all three most important wishes become true, you can go again to your wish list to review what’s remaining and continue with the same process with the next three wishes.
